I'm done!

I sat my last shift for this flight last night. The orbiter undocked today, and now the station can go back to its regularly scheduled programming. Yay! Clay, on board the station, commented, “Hurricane Dean hasn’t got anything on Hurricane Endeavour.” Guess they provided him a whirlwind of activity! He sounded a little lonely after they shut the hatch between the vehicles last night.

Coming up on the 30th, we plan to move around an element of the station. This uses the mechanism that’s the majority of my job – the Common Berthing Mechanism (CBM). We detach the element from one CBM, have the robotic arm move the element around, and attach the element to another CBM. This sets us up for the next shuttle flight bringing up another Node module, which will attach the European and Japanese modules to the space station. …yeah, it’s that confusing. :)

Anyhow, my goal in the next few days is to stop going to sleep at 4AM and waking up at noon, and get back on a more normal schedule. Wish me luck!
