Cool Moment at Work
My work schedule has been pretty crazy lately, and its gotten me a little frustrated. But I had a moment this morning, in the middle of another early morning simulation with our European and Russian partners that gave me pause.
So there I am, at 4:00 am Houston time, sitting in a multi-million dollar simulation facility, tied in to Mission Control Houston, Mission Control Moscow, and the ATV Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen (Germany), simulating a Debris Avoidance Maneuver, when I notice on a video screen the on orbit crew. There were two crews that I had a part in training, goofing off in front of the camera.
I trained the Expedition 15 crew from the start, and I picked up responsibility for the Expedition 16 crew a few months ago (both for my system, of course). Peggy, Clay, Oleg, Fyodor, and Yuri kept me entertained during a slow part of the sim, and really made me remember what a cool job I have.
