Texas Independence Day
Happy Texas Independence Day to everyone! On March 2, 1836 Texas declared itself independent from Mexico. We actually won our independence on April 21, 1836 (one of 2 great things that happened on that date) when Sam Houston’s army defeated Santa Anna’s army in a battlefield southeast of modern-day downtown Houston called San Jacinto.
Ever wonder what we Texans are taught in Texas History class? (Yes, we have at least one year of schooling on the history of this great state.) Check out the Wikipedia article.
Hope you had a great day!

Thanks for the history lesson! Learned a lot. Whenever you have time for the Michigan history lesson we will be happy to provide. But then Michelle has learned that lesson and can fill all in on it! But "Happy Independence Day". G.

Glad to see you remembered. We often forget unless someone reminds us. By the way, does anyone else know the other great happening on Apr. 21st? Since I was there, I certainly do!

Sure do know what it was but of course cannot remember it because we learned of it, fortunately, years later. Thanks for being there and congrats on a job well done!
