Quick turnaround

Another flight is in the air! 1J/A launched early in the morning this past Tuesday. They docked last night, and are getting busy with a very ambitious mission. They have 5 planned spacewalks, and will be up more for than 2 weeks. In fact, it is such a long mission that the flight controllers are having to find ways to take breaks in the middle. See, they’re only allowed to work 10 days in a row, in order to prevent fatigue-induced errors. Luckily, Michelle is not sitting console for this flight. She will be working a couple of nights, however, in order to give the people working this flight a well-deserved day off.

She’s also working as “Team 4″, which is the flight control team that handles all the behind-the-scenes work during a mission. She’s working hard, but is still able to be home at a reasonable time each night. I like that.

Oh, and we scheduled a week-long vacation at the end of April! Yay!
