Summer projects

Every summer, when I was growing up, my parents would ask me what I had planned for the summer. So as not to disappoint them with my real plans (stay up late, watch TV, hang out with my friends), I inevitably answered “I’m going to build a robot". There, of course, was some genuine desire to build something, and I’ve always been fascinated by robots (especially R2-D2).

So, I have an announcement to make. This summer, I plan to build a robot. But not just any robot. I’m going to build a replica of my favorite robot: R2-D2 (or maybe one of his siblings…I have quite decided that yet). Before you shoo this off as yet another of Travis’ ill-fated desires to build a robot, I ask that you go check out the Star Wars part of this blog.

I started building today, and have made slow but steady progress.

I don’t want to clutter up the main blog with my progress, so very little of it will be posted here. That way I have one place that has all my build information (in case I have to reference it later). So don’t forget to check on that blog every once in a while.

-Travis

p.s. Yes, Michelle is fine with this. Besides, who do you think will get to drive him when I’m in stormtrooper armor? :D
