« Fence building 101We're back on the Internet! »

Weekend happenings

Just a quick update. We’ve taken down our back fence that was damaged in hurricane Ike. Somehow I don’t think it was a well-built fence since I pulled one of the fence posts out myself…then reached in the hole and pulled out the cement. The 7 foot posts were only buried about 16 inches deep, and some of the holes had only about 5-6 inches of cement in them. But the next fence– the next fence will stay up! (Or burn down, fall over, then sink into the swamp…) ;)

Other than that? Someone asked me last night what I’m doing for fun these days. I thought blankly for a moment but all I could come up with was, “Working on ULF2.” Not a good answer. Reading and video games have been my escape lately (big surprise), but they’re not very universal conversation topics. Should I try to find something else to do, just so I can have something to talk about? …I think not. Seems too much like work. :))

Good to hear from you and what ever gives you R&R is OK with us. Sorry about the fence job but if Ike hadn't come along it would have been OK so don't blame the construction crew. We just like to know that you guys are alive and well so keep us posted. Hugs, G

Well, seeing as how this is the second time that the fence has fallen down, I do actually blame the builder. The first time it fell down was after a rainstorm about 1 month after I moved in, and they refused to fix it under the warranty. But I didn't expect too much out of them, it was a fairly inexpensive house, all things considered, and you get what you pay for. :)

I won't be buying another home from this builder, by the way.

But we have a lovely view of the field behind our house right now, and we heard the coyotes louder than ever the night before (they live in some of the fields behind the house). That was neat.

Yep! We will rebuild it. It will be stronger, faster, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound...oh, wait, maybe not the last two.
